Finally made into a federal holiday, Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of wrongly enslaved Africans. Originating in Galveston, Tx when word of the emancipation reached the deepest parts of the confederacy, Juneteenth has been celebrated annually in the US since 1865. Reflect and rejoice today, and celebrate our black brothers and sisters, amplify their voices and achievements not just today, but everyday because for so long they have been suppressed and stifled. ✊❤️🖤💚
Alison grew up in Bensalem, right outside of Philadelphia. After studying Public Relations at Temple University, she worked in non-profit communications for nine years before attending Jean Madeline Aveda Institute and beginning a career in cosmetology. Alison worked on the floor at Adolf Biecker and the Rittenhouse Spa and Club before joining the team at Alchemy. "I love working in the neighborhood where I live with amazing clients. It's refreshing to work in a small environment with friends during a tough year."
Alison specializes in cut, style and updos. She is a certified stylist for Cezanne Keratin Smoothing Treatments and HALO hair extensions. Her goal is to give her clients a low maintenance/natural looking color and cut to suit their style and personality. She loves how her career in cosmetology gives her the opportunity to continually educate her clients and herself. Her favorite service to perform is the wavy blow-dry, which she loves for its softness and body.
In her spare time, Alison enjoys hikes, beach days, live music and relaxing with her kitten Percy and 14 year old cat Orion. #hairbyalisonjody
Really proud boss moment for @alchemybyerica today, it was scary to invite new staff into the space, especially after reopening after the pandemic shut down. Hiring two long time friends who she has worked with in the past made it a little less scary, but then if it didn't work out, she was scared to sacrifice friendships. Their hustle and skills are helping the space evolve in ways Erica never imagined, and the best is yet to come! #takeachance #dreambigger
If you believe science is real, hair has no gender, reducing waste and mutual aid are important aspects of your career, not to mention continuing to grow with education and coaching, send us your resume!! Accepting part time or full time applications (and we’re cool with you working at another salon on your off days). Email us at alchemyhairlab215@gmail.com 💚
Did you know we are a member of @greencirclesalons ? We pay to have waste diverted from landfills and waterways! 💚Our PPE will be used for energy, and hair is made into oil absorbing booms, foils are recycled into clean new aluminum and color waste has water extracted before being made into energy. While even during a pandemic, this added cost can seem like a luxury, a salon’s carbon footprint is quite large and we like to minimize ours as much as possible! An investment in our planet is an investment in the future! 🌍🌎🌏
Why are pronouns important? Using someone’s correct pronouns is a way to not only respect them, but create an inclusive environment wherever you are. Actively choosing to ignore the pronouns someone has stated they go by could imply the oppressive notion that intersex, transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming people do not or should not exist.
Introducing yourself with your pronouns is an effective way to make someone feel comfortable sharing theirs.
As a @thedresscodeproject Difference Maker Salon, we believe this simple practice is vital in creating gender affirming salon and shop spaces. For more information check out Dresscode Project and the work they are doing.
